Insanity Radio is a community FM station based in Surrey. We’re mostly ran by students, and because we have such good links to technology departments on campus, we’re using the station as a platform to make great technical advances that hopefully the industry follow in some shape or form.
This blog details how we continue to engineer and expand the station. We want to do this in such a way that other radio stations (especially those who aren’t as lucky as us on the personnel front) can use our ideas to produce their own excellent content.
Hopefully some of the content you find useful if you’re looking to build a radio station (FM, DAB or otherwise)
The site is primarily written by Jamie Woods, the current Head of Computing (1/2 of Head of Tech). She oversees technical operations and R&D with Dawesy, our Head of Audio Engineering.
This blog is inspired by James Harrison’s “Engineering FM” series, written by James to document his re-build of Insanity back in 2011 and 2012.
